My New iPhone
A few weeks ago, Joy and I were sitting down to dinner with the kids, and I said, "I hate to say it, but I think I'm gonna have to buy a new iphone."
Joy asked me why.
"The battery life is shot,” I said. “I'll be at 90%, and then all of a sudden I'll be at 30%."
But I didn't end up buying a new iPhone. I didn't want to spend the money.
"I'll just use my phone sparingly," I thought.
So that's what I did. I made sure to only have one app open at a time, and I carried around a little charger that I could plug my iPhone into if it died. And that was my relationship with my iPhone for the next few weeks.
Then, this past Monday, something unexpected happened at work. My boss walked up to me and said, "Justin, is your iPhone old?"
I looked at her perplexed.
She recognized my confusion and explained, ""I'm getting a new iPhone. Do you want my current one?"
The moment she said that my heart skipped a beat. Because I knew. I knew immediately that this was a gift from God. It's hard to explain. But I just knew when my boss spoke those words, this was God's doing.
James 1:16-17
[16] Do not err, my beloved brethren. [17] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
It's moments like these that remind you that God is there. Sometimes it can feel like, "Lord, where are you? Don't you know what I'm going through?" But when you have those tiny moments, which are hard to describe to others, simply because they are so personal - you just know. It reminds you that God hasn't left. He’s still there. He still cares. And He always will.
Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
